[CHÁVEZ THE RADICAL] ‘What are Privatizations?’

Chavismo emerged in Venezuela as an alternative project when neoliberalism and the Washington consensus had taken hold of Latin America.

In this edition of Chávez the Radical, former President Hugo Chávez recalls how the governments of the 1980s and 1990s were following the IMF playbook, especially in terms of the privatization of state assets.

As the Maduro government, under the weight of a severe crisis and US sanctions, turns rightward in its economic policy, Chávez’s warning echoes: «It would be horrifying to see another neoliberal package in Venezuela.»
